High School Outreach Classroom Presentations

Over the past four years, we have presented in-person and virtual classroom lessons to approximately 1300 students and received approximately 1000 voter registrations, with the help of our dedicated presenters and committed volunteers.

We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students and teachers about our program. In March 2020, because of the pandemic crisis, we suspended our in-person lessons and created new ways to reach eligible young voters.

The “Voting Made Easier" digital lesson, shorter tutorials and the virtual classroom PowerPoint were created to respond to these challenging times. These lessons provide links to the online and paper Voter Registration Applications, and more. We also provide resources for teachers, including open-ended questions to extend student learning and resource websites.

The High School Voter Outreach committee is NOW SCHEDULING VIRTUAL classroom lessons for the winter and spring semesters via ZOOM presented by our experienced volunteers. Please contact us for more information at:

Did the 2020 election raise questions about the election process, electoral college, or roles of local, state and federal government? Then, get back to class with our tutorials and infographics!

Invite our trained team of presenters to your classroom.  Our team is now scheduling VIRTUAL classroom lessons for high schools and colleges/universities for winter and spring of 2021.  Please contact us for more information at
Download ready-made, non-partisan lessons for students, with supplemental extensions and web resources for teachers.
We have a wide variety of documents for distribution and use by classrooms and community groups on everything from voter registration instructions to comparing forms of government.  Look for this symbol to find helpful documents throughout the website.

"The Youth Vote" WQED Video

In February 2020, before schools closed, High School Voter Outreach volunteers visited Brentwood High School to present their voter registration/civic education program.

Brentwood won the 2020 GOLD Governor's Civic Engagement Award, and along with the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh, was featured in a PA Department of State webinar on August 20, which promoted best practices in youth voter outreach.
