A little-known Pennsylvania law could block new U.S. citizens from voting in the May 19 primary. Unlike most states, Pennsylvania requires citizens to be naturalized for at least one month before voting, meaning anyone who becomes a citizen on or after April 20, 2026 may not be able to participate.

Join the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania on April 16 at 6 PM for a webinar with Fair Elections Center to learn what this law means, who it affects, and how it is being challenged. If you are planning to naturalize soon, this session is especially important.

Even if you are not directly affected, it is a crucial opportunity to understand how outdated laws impact voting rights and why protecting those rights matters for everyone.
